Leo's Kitchen

Overview

Leo's Kitchen, located at 7441 Foothills Blvd, Roseville, CA 95747, is one of those hidden gems that feels like a local secret. The moment you step into this cozy diner, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, the friendly staff makes every dining experience feel personal and special.

The menu at Leo's Kitchen is a perfect blend of comfort food with a modern twist. It’s the type of place where you’ll find all your classic favorites, but with a little extra flair. Take the burger, for example. It's not just any burger; it’s made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients that elevate the flavors in a way you don't often find in a standard diner. The buns are soft, lightly toasted, and the patty? Juicy and full of flavor, with the perfect balance of toppings.

One of the standout dishes here is the "Leo's Special Breakfast." This isn't just a regular breakfast; it's an experience. Imagine perfectly scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and a side of golden hash browns, all piled high on your plate. What sets it apart is their homemade sausage gravy, which is rich and creamy, adding a comforting touch to the meal. It's a must-try for anyone who enjoys a hearty start to their day.

Leo’s Kitchen also has a great variety of fresh salads and lighter options for those looking for something a bit healthier. The "Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad" is a crowd favorite, with tender chicken, crisp romaine, and just the right amount of Caesar dressing. It’s light but satisfying, making it a perfect option for those watching their waistlines or simply craving something fresh.

A true highlight of dining at Leo’s Kitchen is the sense of community you’ll experience. Regulars come in for their favorite meals and always strike up conversations with the staff. It’s that kind of place where everyone knows your name and what you like to order. But it’s not just the food and service that keep people coming back; it’s the overall vibe. The diner has a classic, laid-back feel that makes it ideal for any occasion-whether you’re meeting friends, grabbing a quick bite, or enjoying a leisurely meal.

The drinks menu at Leo's Kitchen is also worth mentioning. They serve up a variety of fresh juices, coffee, and even some delightful milkshakes that make for the perfect treat. The "Peanut Butter Banana Shake" is a popular choice, blending the creamy richness of peanut butter with the sweetness of ripe bananas. If you're in the mood for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, this shake is the way to go.

When it comes to dessert, Leo's Kitchen doesn’t disappoint. The "Apple Pie à la Mode" is a favorite among many patrons. The pie is made from scratch, and the balance of tart apples with a buttery, flaky crust is perfection. Paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it's the ultimate comfort food to wrap up your meal. The desserts here have a homemade quality to them that adds a personal touch to every bite.

Despite being a local favorite, Leo's Kitchen continues to impress newcomers with its commitment to high-quality ingredients and exceptional service. Best Chinese food in the area, hands down. We've been faithful customers of Leo's for at least 13 years now, and they have maintained their standards for food quality, cleanliness, and customer service throughout the years. They have great lunch and dinner specials and give you very generous portions. They make their dumplings (the wonton soup ones and the potstickers) in house from scratch. Definitely try their pork potstickers - they are nothing like the pre-made, frozen and reheated ones you get in every other Chinese restaurant. No, Leo's potstickers are made in-house. They are big and plump, full of delicious stuffing of ground pork and vegetables, soft and chewy on one side and perfectly crispy on the other. They will warn you that they take a few extra minutes to steam and fry up, but it's totally worth waiting for. They come with savory sauce that balances the flavors perfectly. They are a "must" order on our every visit. Other staples are also excellent: Orange chicken, Lemon chicken, General's chicken, Crispy beef, Moo Shu chicken, Walnut shrimp (this one is awesome), Green bean chicken, etc. Soups are great as well, especially on those cold days. Love their wonton and egg flowers soups. The owners are always very friendly and polite and take care of their customers. We don't live close by anymore, but still take extra time to drive out to eat here. They survived the pandemic when so many places around closed down. We are going to continue to support them.

Leo's Kitchen in Roseville truly impressed with its standout dishes and welcoming atmosphere. The wonton soup was a definite highlight, boasting a remarkably flavorful and well-seasoned broth. The delicate ribbons of egg flower added a lovely touch of richness and visual appeal. It’s the kind of soup you could happily savor bowl after bowl. The orange chicken proved to be a delightful surprise. The sauce struck a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, coating generously sized pieces of chicken that maintained a satisfying crispness. Its mild spice level makes it an accessible and enjoyable option for everyone at the table, perfect for sharing (or maybe not, as it’s quite tempting to keep it all to yourself!). The teriyaki chicken offered a different but equally pleasing experience. The chicken was wonderfully tender, and the sauce, while leaning towards a richer, almost hoisin-like profile rather than a traditional teriyaki, was absolutely delicious. It provided a lovely depth of flavor that paired perfectly with the succulent chicken. The chow mein noodles were also packed with great flavor. While I personally would have enjoyed a touch more of that distinct "wok hei" or smoky sear, the overall taste was fantastic, and I'm already planning a return visit to try it again. Now, let's talk about the potstickers – these are a must-try! Forget those small, delicate versions; Leo's Kitchen serves up generously sized potstickers akin to dim sum dumplings. The pork filling was incredibly satisfying and flavorful. They were so good, they honestly didn't even need any sauce, but the accompanying dipping sauce was a tasty complement. Beyond the exceptional food, the service was genuinely pleasant, and the restaurant itself was impeccably clean, creating a comfortable and inviting dining environment. When you combine delicious and well-prepared food with attentive service and a spotless setting, it’s hard to ask for anything more. Leo's Kitchen has certainly earned a spot on my list of favorite local eateries, and I highly recommend giving it a try!

I’m always looking for new Chinese restaurants and this was recommended on Nextdoor Neighbor. We tried it and are fans. The lunch special is such a good deal with plenty of food for not much money. But the real deal is that the food is delicious! Fresh tasty, flavorful, hot and authentic. Try this neighborhood gem…it’s well worth the trip.

Very good. Consistent quality. Definitely good serving sizes. Price is very reasonable. Not too sweet. I had the family dinner for two and ordered the Hong Kong Pan fried noodles. It was different from anything I'd had before. I will definitely get it again.

Since my first review we have been back many times! I even tried the beef broccoli awhile back. It was very good! I added some new pictures. First review ; We love Leo's Kitchen! Everything we have tried here is always very good! We have had the cashew chicken, orange chicken, general chicken, walnut shrimp, fried rice and chow main noodles. The lunch special is daily even on the weekends. We always get the hot and sour soup, very good! They have a soda fountain..not soda from a can like some Chinese restaurants around.
